BV TECH meets the students of the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”
Presented one of the research topics of the project activities
30/05/2023
At the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, was held a seminar entitled “IoC Analysis: Assessment of threats shared through the MISP platform” on 05/30/23 as part of the dissemination activities of the research activities carried out by BV TECH within the Program Contract “Suite of CyberSecurity and SOC products,” co-funded by the Region of Puglia (Operation co-financed with the European Regional Development Fund Puglia POR Puglia 2014 – 2020 – Axis I – Specific Objective 1a – Action 1.1 RD).
The kind invitation of Professors Maria Teresa Baldassarre, Danilo Caivano, Maria Francesca Costabile and Giuseppe Pirlo provided us the opportunity to present one of the research topics addressed in the project activities to students in the Master of Science in Computer Science, Secure Software Engineering curriculum at the Faculty of Computer Science.
Advanced Cybersecurity Skills
The seminar was held by Eng. Piero Delvecchio of BV TECH and conducted in English to allow the participation by foreign students as well. He explained how the issue of optimizing the use of information from Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) sources was addressed within the research objectives of the Program Contract.
Starting from the importance of Cyber Threat Intelligence and its usefulness in cyber defense for Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention activities, the most advanced methodologies for classifying and selecting sources from which to draw reliable CTI information and for selecting the most effective Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) of a cyber attack were exposed in order to increase detection capabilities by security systems and applications.
The opportunity to engage with the academic world was met with great interest from students and Professors, while highlighting the importance of the University’s development of advanced skills in Cybersecurity and the opportunities for qualified employment in the area offered in industrial development and research by the BV TECH Group.
