BV TECH took part at the third edition of ICECCME

An advanced modeling system for the power grid, integrated in a specific scenario of the Cyber Range

19/12/2023

BV TECH took part the third edition of the International Conference on Electrical, Computer, Communications and Mechatronics Engineering (ICECCME) held in Tenerife from July 19 to 21, 2023, presenting the results of scientific research developed as part of activities under the Program Contract.

The subject of this activity was the development of an innovative methodology based on ML/AI technologies for the detection of critical action sequences on industrial control systems (ICS) and in particular within complex power grids (smart grids), with the goal of providing early indication of potential malicious activity originating from control system compromise.

The Cyber Range

The research activity included the development of an advanced power grid modeling system, integrated into a special scenario of the BV TECH Cyber Range for the results’ testing and validation phase.

The contents and results of the research, carried out by our Grottaglie office colleagues Alessandro Santorsola, Antonio Maci, Piero Delvecchio and Antonio Coscia, are summarized in the paper titled “A Reinforcement-Learning-based Agent to discover Safety-Critical States in Smart Grid Environments,” which was presented at the conference by Antonio Maci and Piero Delvecchio (pictured) and will be published in the conference proceedings and in IEEE Explore.
