Employing Board Cyber-Risk Management Collaborative Game Under Condition Of Uncertainty

27/08/2024

The research report “Employing Board Cyber-Risk Management Collaborative Game Under Condition Of Uncertainty,” authored by colleagues Tony Delvecchio and Giancarlo De Bernardis of the Grottaglie (TA) office, with Sander Zeijlemaker and Michael Siegel of the MIT – Sloan School, has been accepted for publication in Springer’s “Communications in Computer and Information Science” series.

The benefits of a collaborative approach

The research significantly extends what was presented in the research report “Revolutionizing Board Cyber-risk Management Using Collaborative Gaming,” which was presented at the “10th International Conference on Information Systems Security and Privacy” – ICISSP 2024, which took place in Rome from Feb. 26-28, 2024, and was prompted by the interest found among the participants on the issues affontate and the proposed approach.

The research analyzes in detail the behavior of individual and group-operating decision makers in allocating budget for cyber threat prevention, detection and response activities in the context of a “serious gaming” application aimed at management training, consistently demonstrating the benefits of a collaborative approach in improving understanding of the phenomenon even under high conditions of uncertainty typical of cyber threats, making it quicker to achieve the optimal posture identified in a matrix weighing cyber risks and business outcomes.

The research work stems from activities under the Program Contract “Cybersecurity and SOC Product Suite” and the scientific collaboration in place since 2015 between BV TECH and MIT.

It is scheduled for publication in January 2025.
