The “CARIOCA” research report published in the International Journal of Information Security

19/03/2025

The research report “CARIOCA: prioritizing the use of IoC by threats assessment shared on the MISP platform” was published in the International Journal of Information Security, vol. 24 -2025.

The research, carried out by colleagues Andrea Iannacone and Piero Delvecchio of the Cyber Lab in Grottaglie, in collaboration with the University of Bari, is part of the activities provided for in the “Suite Cybersecurity and SOC” Programme.

A 3-level classification system

Research objective is to maximize the efficiency of IDS/IPS systems through an innovative mechanism that allows a continuous classification of the relevance of Compromise Indicators (IoC) from multiple sources of Threath Intelligence (CTI), in order to prioritise the use of the most reliable, up-to-date and complete information. The CARIOCA methodology, based on a 3-level classification system and the use of the CADE algorithm to evaluate the elements characterising the description of a security event, provides a highly efficient and effective dynamic mechanism to optimise the performance of IDS/IPS systems.

The innovative research result features have already been integrated into CyberSuite BV TECH.
